By Chris BealeThe football team of the University of Miami will make its home in the state of Florida in 2019 after a $1.8 million renovation of the Orange Bowl stadium that opened in 2015.
The team has been operating in South Florida since 2007 and will be home to a new facility which will feature a retractable roof, new seats and improved facilities.
The University of Florida is expected to make the first of two major upgrades to the Orange Stadium, a state-of-the-art stadium that has been in use since the early 1980s.
The renovations are set to include an indoor soccer pitch, an expanded locker room, improved facilities and a new video board, which will be able to display live video.
The $1 billion renovation will be the largest single-use building on the campus, and will also include new classrooms, a fitness centre and an indoor volleyball court.
The football stadium, which is located on the west side of campus and was the site of a game in 2013, will remain open for football and basketball games until at least 2023.
The university also plans to renovate the athletics and recreation facilities.
